Sri Lanka Weekly Fuel Quota Guide (2026)
Sri Lanka's National Fuel Pass system gives every registered vehicle a fixed weekly fuel allocation. This guide explains how much you get, when your quota resets, how the odd-even plate system works, and — most importantly — how to make every litre count.
Current Quota Amounts (March 2026)
Quota amounts are set by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and may be revised based on supply conditions. The table below reflects the allocations in effect as of March 2026.
| Vehicle Type | Weekly Petrol Quota | Weekly Diesel Quota |
|---|---|---|
| Car (small/compact — up to 1500cc) | 10 litres | — |
| Car / SUV (above 1500cc) | 14 litres | 14 litres (diesel) |
| Motorbike | 4 litres | — |
| Three-wheeler (tuk-tuk) | 5 litres | — |
| Van / dual-purpose vehicle | 14 litres | 14 litres (diesel) |
| Bus (private) | — | Quota allocated per route — contact CPC |
| Truck / lorry | — | Quota allocated by vehicle class — contact CPC |

When Does the Quota Reset?
Your weekly fuel quota resets every Sunday. The new week begins at midnight Saturday night / Sunday morning, and your full allocation becomes available again from that point.
Important: unused quota does not roll over. If you only used 6 of your 10 litres this week, the remaining 4 litres expire at the end of Saturday. They will not be added to next week's 10 litres. Odd-Even Rationing System
Alongside the QR code quota, certain fuel stations may apply an odd-even number plate restriction during periods of high demand or supply shortages. Under this system:
- Vehicles with odd last digit on the number plate may refuel on odd calendar days (1st, 3rd, 5th…).
- Vehicles with even last digit may refuel on even calendar days (2nd, 4th, 6th…).
This restriction does not replace the weekly QR code quota — it operates on top of it. Check your local fuel station or the CPC social media channels to confirm whether odd-even rules are currently in effect in your area. When not actively enforced, any vehicle with remaining quota may refuel on any day.
6 Ways to Make Your Weekly Quota Last
With a fixed weekly allocation, how far it takes you depends entirely on how you drive and maintain your vehicle. Use FuelPass.lk's free tools to maximise every litre.
Stay in the 50–70 km/h Zone
Use our Speed Simulator → to see how fuel burn doubles above 90 km/h. Staying in the sweet spot can save up to 30%.
Drive Smoothly
Aggressive acceleration and hard braking burns up to 40% more fuel. Try the Driving Style Lab → to see the difference visually.
Plan Your Week with the Calculator
Use the Weekly Fuel Calculator → to model exactly how many km you can drive each day on your quota.
Know Your Real-World Fuel Economy
Use the Car Fuel Profile tool → to find your vehicle's actual city and highway L/100km — not the manufacturer's optimistic figure.
Check Tyre Pressure
Under-inflated tyres add rolling resistance and can reduce efficiency by up to 10%. Check every two weeks — the correct pressure is on the door jamb sticker.
AC vs Open Windows
Below 50 km/h, open windows beat AC. Above 80 km/h, aerodynamic drag makes AC more efficient. Switch accordingly and save up to 8%.
